Lina Jang's photography reflects her desire to
capture the movement, elegance and sensuality of the female form. During
a trip to Morocco, Lina discovered Danse Oriental, or bellydance as it
is more widely known. The essence of the dance and its dancers reflected
the aesthetic Lina sought to capture in her work. The sensual movement
of the dance along with the exotic costuming provided a distinct subject
for her theme. Infusing her sense of color, tone and perspective, Danse
Oriental became the first chapter of "Veiled Visions." Later, Lina
expanded this personal body of work to include the female nude, where
its elegance and beauty would be enhanced within the context of Danse
Oriental. Most recently Lina has looked to Gypsy and Tribal dance for
inspiration. Although the gestures, costuming and ambiance of these
dance forms differ, they all celebrate the feminine spirit that Lina
seeks to represent in her work.
In "Veiled Visions" Lina offers her
interpretation of the sensuality and beauty of the female form. |
